Platform One Foundation Charitable Trust

Platform One has evolved over more than 25 years of governance development, systems thinking, and community-based research. The Platform One Foundation Charitable Trust was established to provide a durable governance home for this work — offering the legal, ethical, and structural foundation required to support values-based, community-led initiatives over the long term.

Our purpose is to ensure that community initiatives have access to independent, non-extractive governance structures that protect their kaupapa, integrity, and future resilience.

Who We Are

Platform One is the governance home for community-led projects that require a safe, independent structure to operate with integrity.

We hold the legal, ethical, and values framework that enables communities to design, lead, and steward their own initiatives responsibly — across areas such as energy resilience, food systems, housing, transport, and wellbeing.

Our role is to protect shared values, support transparent decision-making, and ensure long-term stewardship remains community-held.

What We Do

Platform One provides governance and stewardship architecture that allows community-led initiatives to operate safely and independently.

This includes:

· safeguarding community benefit

· protecting against political or commercial capture

· supporting transparent, consent-based governance

· maintaining ethical, non-extractive practice

· enabling continuity and long-term stewardship

Platform One does not run or operate projects. We provide the stable governance structure within which communities lead and evolve their own work.

 

Our Flagship Demonstration: WE Share Community Power

WE Share Community Power is a community-led initiative supported through Platform One’s governance framework.

It demonstrates how communities can explore and steward essential systems — in this case, local energy — when clear governance boundaries, shared values, and long-term accountability are in place.

Operational leadership for WE Share sits with its community project circle. Platform One’s role is limited to providing the governance safeguards that support ethical participation, transparency, and stewardship.
